Why Choose Jarrah?

Jarrah Trees Jarrah (Eucalyptus Marginata), also known as Swan River Mahogany, is one of the strongest and most durable woods in the world with many deep rich red colours, distinctive fine grain and gum vein features.

Jarrah's natural resins deter borers, termites, rot and fungal attack as well as being resistant to fire and extreme weather conditions making it well suited for use in outdoor furniture as well as fine furniture.

Jarrah only grows in the most south western corner of Western Australia, and its unique qualities have seen it used as far away as London where it was used as railway sleepers in the underground. It has been used as a substitute for steel in jetties, bridges and railway lines. The famous Busselton Jetty was constructed from Jarrah.

Jarrah was one of Western Australia's earliest exports as far back as 1836 and the management of re-growth logging is strictly controlled by CALM, while old growth logging completely ceased in 2001. This has lead to a reduction in production from 375,000m3 per annum prior to 2001 to about 95,000m3 per annum currently.

Raw Jarrah timber prices have doubled in the past 5 years reinforcing the view that the purchase of Jarrah pieces should be looked on as as investment.
